Amazon AWS: what is it and what services does it offer?

Digital transformation has changed document management and today it is necessary to use tools and technologies that can simplify processes, such as Amazon AWS.

What is Amazon AWS? AWS is the acronym for Amazon Web Service, a US company part of the Amazon group. It provides cloud computing services on a platform of the same name. AWS offers over 200 products, including Amazon EC2 (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud) and Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service) that meet the most stringent security requirements. Moreover, it provides on demand solutions with high availability, redundancy and security features. The final cost depends on the type and quantity of resources used, the characteristics chosen by the user, the time of use and the desired performance.

In other words, instead of buying, owning and maintaining physical data centers or servers, AWS allows you to rely on technologies, computing power, storage and databases, but also Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Data Lake and analytics, based on to your needs. Moreover, thanks to the pay-as-you-go model, you can try different technologies to find the ones that best meet your needs, thus speeding up time-to-market.

The AWS console offers a secure login that uses the credentials of your AWS or IAM (Identity and Access Management) account. Furthermore, to ensure greater security, the login session automatically expires after 12 hours. To log in again, just click on the “Click login to continue” button.

With the AWS Management Console, you can find the services you need in just a few clicks. You can also access a wide range of learning resources, including articles, documentation, tutorials and webinars. They are all easily accessible from the home page and also include an assortment of workflows, and simplified and automated wizards that make tests and creations easier with Amazon AWS and the AWS Marketplace.

Also, you can customize the console. In fact, you can configure settings, such as Region and language, add and remove widgets containing information about services and resources, monitor costs and system status, view important events, learn about AWS best practices, securely manage the access for AWS users and groups and more. All from the same place.

The AWS console mobile app is also available on the Amazon Appstore, Google Play or iTunes. It allows you to easily view existing features, including CloudWatch alarms, and perform operational tasks from your iOS or Android device.

AWS Cloud operates in 84 Availability Zones within 26 geographic Regions worldwide, with an additional 24 Availability Zones and 8 additional AWS Regions already announced in Australia, Canada, India, Israel, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the Emirates United Arabs (UAE). In addition, Amazon Web Service is a member of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
